Promotional material for the GCR’s new dock complex at Immingham. ROD KNIGHT

The third link was created by the Barton and Immingham Light Railway, planned to run directly between the two communities, probably with ambitions to continue along the Humber shore to join up with lines planned further west, but later reduced to a link between Immingham and the existing Grimsby-to-New Holland Line near Goxhill. The line opened in two stages, but was completed in May 1911, serving Killingholme, Admiralty Platform and East Halton en route. Provision was made for double track to be laid, but it remained single track throughout its existence.
